Tarawih selesai, badan masih segar. Pengen olahraga, tapi takut malah susah tidur?
Many people choose to work out at night during Ramadhan. But is exercising after Tarawih effective, or does it actually make it harder to sleep?
If you have a busy schedule during the day or don't want to feel sluggish while fasting, exercising after Tarawih can be a solution. Here are some of the benefits:
✅ Improves sleep quality if done with light to moderate intensity.
✅ Helps digestion after breaking the fast, especially if you ate a heavy meal.
✅ Burns extra calories from the food consumed during iftar.
✅ Provides positive energy by keeping the body active during the fasting month.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind to avoid negative effects of late-night workouts.
Not all types of exercise are suitable before bedtime. If the intensity is too high, it could lead to:
❌ Difficulty sleeping because heart rate and body temperature are still elevated.
❌ The body feeling more awake and taking longer to relax.
❌ Digestive issues if you work out too soon after a heavy meal.
So, if you want to exercise after Tarawih, make sure the type and duration are appropriate!
If you want to exercise without disturbing your sleep, choose the following types of workouts:
✔ Stretching or Yoga → Helps relax the body before sleep.
✔ Light workouts (Bodyweight exercises) → Push-ups, planks, and squats in reasonable amounts.
✔ Leisurely walking or low-intensity cardio → Aids digestion after breaking the fast.
Avoid intense exercises like HIIT or heavy weightlifting as they can increase stress hormones and make it harder to sleep.
🕒Don’t exercise too close to bedtime → Allow at least 1 hour before sleeping to let your body relax.
💧 Stay hydrated → Don’t forget to drink water after exercising to avoid dehydration.
🌬 Cool down properly → Do stretching or deep breathing exercises before bed to normalize your heart rate.
😴Watch your workout duration → 20-30 minutes is enough to stay fit without disturbing your sleep.
🔹 Effective, if done with light to moderate exercises and with a gap before sleep.
🔹 Can disrupt sleep, if the workout is too intense and done too close to rest time.
So, if you want to exercise after Tarawih, make sure the timing is right and the type of workout is suitable. With the right approach, you can stay fit without sacrificing sleep quality.
